Spring 2022 Update.
With Cal Poly removing mask mandates indoors for students due to the high vaccination rates amongst students and the lower rates of COVID-19 in our community, Cru Central Coast is following suit. Masks will be considered optional at our events, though we encourage students to continue following CDC guidelines and to stay away from our events if feeling sick. Unless our universities, our local community, California, or the CDC puts new guidelines in place, we will continue to operate under the above principles moving forward.
Fall 2021 Update.
With Cal Poly, Cuesta, and Hancock returning to in-campus courses for the Fall, Cru will also be holding many of its meetings in-person. We continue to point people to the guidelines set forth by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) for in-person meetings as well as the guidelines given by our respective college campuses. With the high vaccination rates amongst college students, we do believe we can hold our meetings and events safely, though we will continue to ask students and staff to wear masks indoors at those meetings, fitting with the guidelines of our campuses. If you are sick, please do not attend our events.
Fall 2020 Update.
Fall 2020 response to COVID-19.
As we approach re-engagement as a family of movements, we are considering the nature of the Covid-19 virus, the information from the CDC, the leadership of our organization and the local values of our Cru Central Coast family.
Cru’s Re-engagement Principles:
All re-engagement decisions assume that the virus is an active, transmittable, serious health concern in our communities.
We value the health of our staff and partners and the well-being of our broader communities in our re-engagement decisions.
We seek to maximize long-term, sustained effectiveness in the mission in our re-engagement decision making.
We endeavor to honor all national, state and local guidelines as a baseline in our re-engagement process. Cru’s timeline may be more conservative.
We desire to honor Cal Poly, Cuesta, SLO High, Morro Bay High, and Allan Hancock in our process of re-engagement, acknowledging that we are registered clubs on those campuses and subject to their decisions.
The CDC, Johns Hopkins and local public health authorities serve as our authority for information related to the virus, including its progression.
We maintain a flexible posture with re-engagement that responds to the unpredictable nature of the virus.
As Cru Central Coast we value:
Inclusivity of all people involved in our community.
Safety and health of those in our scope.
A posture of care and compassion to our neighbor.
Our witness to our community and those we seek to serve.
The longevity and sustainability of our movements.
In light of these principles and values, Cru Central Coast will be operating with the following guidelines:
All Cru Central Coast staff meetings and planning times will be virtual.
All large group gatherings and events will be virtual, including our weekly meetings and retreats.
All Community Groups and Bible Studies will be led virtually.
By CDC’s guidelines, there is a higher risk when a medium sized group gathers with attendees coming from outside the local area.
If involved students choose to meet outside our club activities, we ask that
They follow social distancing guidelines.
The decision to meet in person is made and agreed upon by all people included in that group.
They limit their time on campus as a way to honor Cal Poly’s desire to limit unnecessary traffic.
We recognize that it may be difficult for students and faculty to adjust to virtual involvement, but we value our long-term relationships with each school more than the short-term losses. We will do our best to update our position each quarter.
